The Fireplace Grate Heater to the Rescue

The fireplace…

The fireplace grate heater.

What do they have in common?

Getting a source of your heat, but with the fireplace heater, the heat is mainly directed to you and not up the chimney.

What is a Fireplace Grate Heater?

A tubular grate heater is actually any grate, or you could say a heat exchanger for a fireplace designed from metal tubing.

Now…

Through this tubing, home air is circulated, and that in turn, becomes heated by the fire in the fireplace.

In fact, these heaters increase the efficiency of the fireplace, meaning the amount of direct heat that makes it from your fireplace out into the room that it occupies itself.

Grate Heater History

This interesting invention, the Grate Heater was invented by such men called Ron and Dan Shimek (the founding fathers of Heat & Glo) in 1977.

And as far as grate heaters go…

The original design all those years ago has actually withstood the test of time and is still…

Yes!

Still being used today.

It was actually the second product made by Heat & Glo, actually using the same concept as the first Heat & Glo product of its day.

Yes, this freestanding wood fireplace with heat tubes for that internal heat exchange.

When a fireplace grate heater is installed, there are no pipes to be run or even any construction needed.

You just simply set it in place, plug the blower in, and then you build your fire.

How easy is that!

When it comes to heating with the traditional open fireplace, there are going to be disadvantaged, as heat rises.

So, a lot of the heat produced from the flames are going to find themselves rising up through the chimney flue into the atmosphere.

This is where the fireplace grate heater comes in…

You are increasing the efficiency of your traditional fireplace by putting in one of these fireplace grate heaters to your benefit.

When it comes to choice.

There are not a lot of worries there.

As there are, in fact, many different styles of grate heaters to choose from now.

So you should be able to find one of these styles that are going to fit in with your fireplace.

Do Fireplace Grate Heaters Work?

Yes, they do…

This is a way that you can keep the original look of your own fireplace, while you are converting it efficiently into a better heather atmosphere for your house.

So you now have a fireplace heater that is working hard for you in a very practical way.

In fact, the Grate Heater adds up to 40,000 BTUs of heating to your home every hour which is sure you keep you warmer in the colder weather…

The Fireplace Grate Heater Styles

The different styles and appearances still have that main function in mind, yet each has been designed a little differently.

Getting that warmth blowing into your room, and not having it go right up the chimney.

Most of the styles here have a couple of similarities…

Burning on top of the grate heater, and having that blower to push that hot air into your room.

Sound good?

I can see the marshmallows coming out now…

Let’s have a look at each style and their difference, shall we?

Tube Grate Heaters

The tubular grate heater is in fact any grate or heat exchanger for a fireplace designed from metal tubing.

Through this tubing, is circulated home air that becomes heated by the fire.

This air is then vented back into the room where your fireplace is, heating the interior of that room, and even further if you wish to open the door.

Though…

Warming the immediate room you are in, is the best choice.

Just remember with any heaters.

The bigger the space, the more output you will need from your heater, or you will just not get that heat that you will need to warm your space

WoodEze Grate Heater

Now, the WoodEze Grate Heater has quite a different appearance than the tube heaters.

This heater has a basket that you can build the fire on itself.

And the blower actually sits in front, in order to blow the hot air into the room.

This heater can also be used with glass fireplace doors.

The doors will have to be lifted, though…

In order to sit on the front bar of the grate heater.

And another thing…

You should not burn on the grate heater if you have the glass doors closed…

Not a good idea.

Because it could overheat the blower motor itself.

Now, the WoodEze grate heater is not intended to be used in zero-clearance fireplaces.

It is, however, available in 3 sizes, that being:

  • 20’’x17’’
  • 20’’x22’’
  • 24’’x22’’

Now, this heater has a much different appearance than the other tube heaters.

This heater actually has a basket to build the fire on.

That’s right.

And the blower sits in front, in order to blow the hot air into the room.

And this heater can also be used with glass fireplace doors as well.

But the doors do need to be lifted to sit on the front bar of the grate heater.

And the same with this one…

You should not be burning on the grate heater if the doors are closed because it could overheat the blower motor.

The WoodEze grate heater is not intended to be used in zero-clearance fireplaces.

They are available in 3 sizes:

  • 20’’x17’’
  • 20’’x22’’
  • 24’’x22’’

Sometimes the original fireplaces just need that extra help, and with the fireplace grate heater, you have the ability to have your old-fashioned fireplace with that extra added heat.

Don’t let much of that heat go up to your chimney.

The old fireplaces do give out that heat, but much of it rises.

With this Fireplace Grate Heater, you can tame the heat and make sure that it is being directed to where you need it the most.

On you…
