Are There Really Smokeless Fire Pits

Smokless fire pits

We have heard of them and I guess this was naturally the next step to the firepit itself.

But do these pits really work or is it just a smoke screen… (Pardon the pun).

Let’s look into this further.

Which fire pits are the best?

Let’s Talk About Smokeless Fire Pits

So, what is the purpose of a smokeless fire pit?

Smokeless firepits feature a unique…

And…

Apparently, they are a highly efficient design to produce a cleaner burn with minimal of smoke that a normal firepit would billow into your eyes on a windy day.

They typically have the feature of a double-walled design, now which allows the smoke to rise through the gap between the walls and exit through air holes at the top of the firepit.

And we are seeing a lot of them there is a very particular reason these are smokeless.

They do actually burn wood really…

What they are doing here is just injecting a ton of air into the fire that limits the amount of smoke.

Though it does not exactly make it smokeless…

It does however burn very hot very fast and the smell you still end up with some of that wood smell on you sitting around smokeless fire pits…

So again it’s just all done with air it’s a very simple fire pit and all they’re doing is injecting a ton of air into the fire.

But more importantly, that added air and that extra heat that’s going to burn off a lot of the by-products that you would get from the flame as well.

Which would be represented in smoke what that does of course is allow that almost complete combustion of the wood.

So it may be marketed as smokeless.

It certainly is not!

You will still get some smoke with it but they certainly eliminate quite a bit of it.

If you are interested in something a little easier to use obviously HPC offers a gas-fired fire pit electronic ignition.

These are very easy-to-use natural gas keep in mind burn very clean.

The lp version as well now up is a little bit dirtier gas.

But again we use our air mixer on those that are going to eliminate probably about 80 to 85 per cent of the smoke.

And of course, the soot that you get from let’s say the dirty fuel of lp but again we do this by injecting air into the gas line.

Obviously, before it’s burned at the burner you would be doing basically the same thing with the lp gas that the smokeless fire pit is doing as well.

l but again take a look at our product line like I said it’s smoke-free smell free and obviously very easy to operate

Do Smokeless Firepits Really Work

As I have mentioned above a smokeless firepit is not exactly a smokeless firepit…

It does have some smoke, but that does not mean that it does not work.

As a smokeless fire pit burns solid fuel, such as:

  • wood pellets
  • wood logs
  • charcoal

Many of these smokeless models can burn multiple fuels, but their airflow and clean-out are normally optimized for one specific type of fuel.

And…

The big factor is that you will not be burdened with so many headaches if you stick with the fuel type, which the manufacturer recommends.

How Hot Does a Smokeless Fire Pit Get

We have talked about the smokeless fire pit getting quite hot.

So how about nearly 1000 degrees Fahrenheit then?

And with that sort of temperature range, there should not be that much smoke because the efficiency of smokeless pits increases as the heat of the fire increases.

Do Smokeless Fire Pits Still Smell you Say?

Well, there are smokeless fire pits, which have the same atmosphere as a bonfire, but you would be going without the odour.

I do not know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

It all depends if you like that smell or not.

I guess it is a way of just getting the heat without much of the smoke and smell.

It does, however, give you the benefits of easy-to-clean-up fire pits and of course fuel efficiency.

That has to be a plus.
