Do You Know How to Clean and Season Your Griddle Grill

We all love using a grill, they are so handy.

But do you know the right way to clean a griddle grill?

Well, it is time to find out as you do not want to be cleaning it the wrong way, do you?

You want it to last.

So let’s get to it, shall we…

Cleaning a Griddle Grill the Right Way

I’m going to tell you how to clean the griddle grill the right way…

First step: You need to heat the griddle grill up but you should heat it up on low there is no need to go up on high.

As that is just going to create more hot steam we do not want to deal with that.

Now, a couple of things that I found work really well is a bench scraper.

This works fantastic for getting those big pieces off boom scrapes it all down nicely.

The other one I really like is this chainmail scrubber.

It is great for cast iron and works on these laptops as well.

The other thing I found works is that kosher salt works fantastic as well.

Now just throw a little bit of kosher salt on there you usually have it when you are cooking so use it to clean and add a little bit of oil or water to it and that does a fantastic job cleaning your griddle.

Any of those methods is going to take up that gunk that you had from burgers, and maybe some eggs on here that stick really well, so any of those methods is going to pull those food particles up.

Next step: in the cleaning process that is just getting everything off.

Go ahead and utilize this nice grease tray in front do not forget to get in your corners and on the sides as well…

Now that you have got the majority of that scraped into your tray.

Go down the v put it in the corner and then just drop it into your grease tray on the side.

All right…

So the next step: is to go ahead and get that fine-tuning done we want all those fine particles that have been really stuck on.

Get got all the big stuff scraped off, I found either water works really well for that.

You can actually use a mixture of water and vinegar.

And that will just really help do a deep clean.

Make sure you do not dump a bunch of cold water on here, as this is a hot griddle in the cold water could cause some problems.

You could use a little sprayer you can just wet that down got to the areas that are really stuck on, say with egg for instance…

You can just go ahead and dump just a little bit slow on there.

And you can see that is really bringing up the food particles.

Okay, at this point you can go ahead and either throw that chain mail back on or give that a swirl around.

Just be careful, as that is hot steam you know…

Okay, so why go to all this work, why?

What are we doing here as this is a steel griddle?

There is no amount of seasoning or anything that you can put on this griddle that is going to keep it from rusting if it gets wet.

As things are going to hold that wetness.

Having a dirty griddle with those fertile food particles is not a nice thought, is it?

It is going to get moist and is going to cause problems so you want to get all the food particles off.

Plus who wants to eat that anyway right?

So make sure you keep your grill clean and oiled up.

Seasoning Up Your Griddle

All right, now that see all the gunk that you have brought off of that griddle grill. Now it is all cleaned.

You have got all the food particles off now you want to put a little bit of oil on.

This is going to help keep the moisture out of the pores of the steel.

Yes…

Pores!

For example, these camp chefs are awesome and so fun to use, but a little bit of maintenance really goes a long way.

Now you go ahead and season.

They do come pre-seasoned so they are ready to go right out of the box but you do have to maintain that seasoning with griddle grills.

And basically, all you do is put a little bit of oil, whatever oil you want.

All you do is pour a little bit on it and spread it around and it is just like cast iron you just want a thin layer and push all the excess oil to the front.

As that is going to run down the grease tray and these little disposable cups are awesome.

Now all you have to do is pull it out and throw it away so much easier on cleanup.

Now, remember you just want a really thin layer of oil.

As it does not take a lot so just keep that wipe down okay?

Now that you have a thin layer of oil on there you are just going to come back and go back up to high temperature, once you go up to the high temperature you start to see it smoke.

Then you go ahead and turn it off.

And that is going to really set that oil in it is going make you a nice non-stick surface and you are ready to start on the next cook.
